How to get to Penang??

I'm so happy to see so many Singaporeans (*probably my friends from fb who supported my blog) and people from US trying to know about this island!!

This gets me really excited to share more information!

Okay, for the lucky Singaporeans. There are 3 ways for you people to get to Penang island:

1) Do a 8 hour drive up.

2) Take a 8 hour coach bus.

3) Take a short 1 hour plane ride.

Most people will take option 2 or 3, which make sense if you are not planning to go elsewhere in Malaysia. But for people who wish to do a Malaysia road trip, you can also consider Penang as one of your many destinations :)

I would recommend the road users to download this app called "WAZE", available on both IOS and Android. This is one of the BEST app so far for road navigation in Penang :) GO download it, it's FREE!!

For the coach bus rider, I'm not too sure exactly how much or which bus company is best recommended. But I know that all the Buses will terminate its service in this place called KOMTAR in Penang, it is like a mega bus terminal in Penang island. From there, you'll need to take another public transport to your respective accommodation.

How about the plane takers? Just make a booking with either Jetstar or AirAsia airlines will do :) *Keep a lookout for their special offers during non-peak seasons* For the benefit of readers not from Singapore, you might need to take a transit flight from Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) or Singapore Changi Airport to Penang. Upon reaching the arrival hall in PIA (Penang International Airport), there are a few ways to get to your destination:

1) Take Penang Airport White Taxi.
This is how the counter looks like

Purchase a taxi ticket from the counter. State the location you are going exactly.

The prices stated are all fixed according to various zones like this table:

After which, proceed to take the white taxi. There will be someone to bring you over according to the number of people and the luggages you have with you. Don't be surprised if you see different model/size of cars that are all WHITE.

Remember to pass half of the ticket to the taxi driver. ;)

*Always remember DO NOT approach anyone at the arrival hall, asking you if you need any taxi services. Just go straight to the respective counters*

2) Take a public bus.
Here is a map for the bus routes to all the locations in Penang:

3) Rent a car (Recommended for families that wish to explore around the island freely).

Renting a car in Penang can be a little bit pricey. But if you really have young children/elderly travelling with you, it'll be better if you can rent one for your holiday.
